Queen Creek Police will get de-escalation training

At its July 20 meeting, the Queen Creek Town Council approved a contract to provide the Queen Creek Police Department with de-escalation training.

The $37,375 contract with Artemis Self Defense LLC will provide instructor training and proficiency training for police defensive tactics for fiscal year 2023. The contract was approved as part of the council’s consent agenda.

According to a staff report, the defensive tactics curriculum offered by Artemis is consistent with Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, defensive tactics standards and industry-accepted best practices and “goes beyond those baseline standards to meet QCPD’s higher expectations related to de-escalation and the lawful use of force.”
