The Mercury are on the brink of elimination after getting thrashed by the Sky 86-50 in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals Friday in Chicago in the most lopsided game in Finals history.
With a 2-1 lead in the five-game series, the Sky is one win away from its first championship and will have a chance to close it out on the team’s home floor Sunday at noon. If the Mercury win Sunday, they’ll force Game 5 back in Phoenix at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
Mercury coach Sandy Brondello said the Mercury “got our butts kicked” Friday but was eager to put it in the past and look ahead to Sunday.
