Pubs aim for quieter St. Patrick’s Day parties

Local restaurants, bars bring back pared-down celebrations

That’s despite the March 6 executive order from Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, which allows bars and restaurants across the state to operate at 100% capacity, up from the 50% they’ve been working with for months.

Padre Murphy’s, 4338 W. Bell Road in Phoenix, has taken the order in stride, working to hire more staff and add tables back into the restaurant while maintaining social distancing.

But Padre Murphy’s owner Larry Delaney, who purchased the Irish pub with his business partner in November, said the order didn’t come soon enough for them to throw their annual St. Paddy’s Day parking lot extravaganza.
