The Scottsdale Police Department is seeking reaccreditation from a law enforcement commission and invites community members to have a say in the process.

The department has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement since 1994, and a file review by the agency will begin June 16 with it examining all aspects of the Scottsdale Police Department’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services, according to a release.

The department must comply with 406 standards to achieve accredited status, which is valid for four years, “during which time the agency must submit annual reports attesting to its continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited,” the release stated.

Anyone who wants to offer written comments about the department's ability to comply with the standards for accreditation - “engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services and overall candidacy for accredited status” – should visit: https://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/police/transparency-and-accountability
