Phoenix residents will have an opportunity Sept. 14 to have their say on the spending priorities the city should have in a bond package that could be placed before voters next year.

At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, a General Obligation Bond Executive Committee meeting will be dedicated to public comment. The meeting will take place in Phoenix City Council Chambers.

Those interested in speaking at the meeting can sign up to speak in person or virtually at phoenix.gov/bond/meetings. Spanish interpretation services also will be available.

The additional meeting will be for public comment only, and the executive committee will not talk about or take action on projects being discussed among eight subcommittees, according to a city release.

Subcommittees, which take in everything from arts and education to housing, public safety and streets, will receive presentations about proposed projects from city departments, hear from the public and then rank in order projects to be recommended to the executive committee.

The executive committee is “charged with making project recommendations within the approved scope of $500 million to be considered by city council,” the release stated.

The council will decide if a project will go to the voters. If approved by the council, voters will choose whether to adopt the GO Bond Program in November 2023.

Committee meetings began in August and are scheduled to continue through November. Meetings are open to the public for comment. For more: Phoenix.gov/bond.
