The Surprise Community Garden will be among the stops on the Public Art Bus Tour on March 21. Benevilla’s third annual Public Art Bus Tour, in partnership with the Surprise Arts and Cultural Advisory Commission, starts 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 21.

Attendees can discover various art exhibits and visual experiences throughout the city of Surprise. The Surprise Arts and Cultural Advisory Commission and Benevilla are joining together to host this free bus tour starting at the Benevilla main Surprise campus, 16752 N. Greasewood St.

Tour participants will visit art locations such as WHAM Art Gallery, Arts HQ, the Surprise Community Garden and the Surprise City Hall Galleries. The bus will also visit several public art pieces, including the Joe Tyler Learning Tree and more.

The tour will begin at 9 a.m. at the Benevilla campus and will end at the same location at noon. Space is limited, so reservations are needed by Wednesday, March 14. Reservations can be made by calling Benevilla at 623-584-4999.

At the conclusion of the bus tour, there will be an option to have lunch at Birt’s Bistro on the Benevilla campus. The lunch package is $15 per person and includes a meal, iced tea or soft drink, tip and tax.

Benevilla and Birt’s Bistro provide many opportunities for local artists and community members to collaborate and grow.  There are free Happy Hour concerts featuring local bands at Birt’s every Friday and Saturday night from 5 to 7 p.m. Every month a new exhibit by local artists is hosted on the walls of Birt’s with all creations available for public sale.

Started by the community and for the community in 1981, Benevilla is a not-for-profit human services agency dedicated to enhancing the lives of West Valley residents by providing care services for older adults, disabled adults, children and families.
