Pruitt retires from Sunrise Mountain, ready to follow kids careers

Softball coaching transition to Monk began this spring

Jody Pruitt has always barreled headlong into the game of softball, whether playing it at the University of Arizona, starting the Sunrise Mountain program and returning to lead the Mustangs in 2012.

As she approached the 2022 season, however, Pruitt said she realized her life balance leaned more toward her family and she knew then it was time to prepare her exit as coach, because it is not fair to the kids or the people she was coaching with.

“Some of it is my kids becoming more busy and I was missing out on a lot of travel, with my boys playing college baseball and my daughter playing volleyball. The last couple years we had a lot of discussion on what that looks like,” Pruitt said.
