Protesters call for SUSD Board Member Carine Werner to resign

Around 50 protesters showed up to the Scottsdale Unified School District’s Sept. 9 meeting to call for Board Member Carine Werner to resign and apologize for calling the district’s Nutrition Services director “morbidly obese” during the board’s Aug. 5 meeting.

About 50 people showed up with signs and music to the Sept. 9 Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board meeting calling for Board Member Carine Werner to apologize for comments she made during a previous board meeting and to resign.

For her part, Werner, whose name plate was in place in the board meeting room at Coronado High School, as though she was expected, never did show up.
