OPINION — The people of Surprise are facing a serious question that goes beyond politics and gets to the heart of our values. Immigration is an emotional issue.
Many in our community support a “deport them all” approach, believing that every undocumented immigrant should be removed, no matter the circumstances. I understand the desire for law and order, but I don’t believe the solution is that simple.
Not every immigrant is here to do harm. Many are working, raising families and contributing to our community. We can uphold the law while still recognizing that each situation is different.
