Project costs going up for Scottsdale Unified rebuild projects

School board asked to approve additional funds for two school rebuilds

As construction costs and other impacts leftover from the COVID-19 pandemic linger, Scottsdale Unified School District is being asked to adjust some project costs on its local elementary school rebuilds.

The Scottsdale Unified School District governing board will delay approving an additional $89,696 in professional redesign costs associated with Kiva Elementary School rebuild until questions get answered, but approved $118,456 in added basic services for remodeling Tavan Elementary School.

During an Oct. 4 special meeting, the board unanimously decided to table the agenda item, which sought to increase funds directed to Kiva Elementary School’s rebuild in the amount of $89,696 until the Oct. 18 meeting. The identified funds are for architect firm Orcutt Winslow, who has been leading the redesign of the school.
