A contested senate race and Arizona becoming a potential swing state is bringing with it approximately $260 million in campaign advertising spending.
That data comes courtesy of New York-based Ampersand, a television advertising sales group owned by cable giants Cox Communications, Comcast and Charter Communications. That’s a large chunk of the estimated $6.7 billion being spent on elections advertising this year, according to Advertising Analytics.
Rich Barone, vice president of Cox Media in Arizona, which is responsible for handling the cable company’s advertising, said the increase in the number of ads is noticeable this year compared with both 2018 and 2016.
