Powerball players who purchased tickets in several Valley cities for Wednesday night’s drawing failed to hit the big jackpot, but ended the day with nice consolation prizes, Arizona Lottery officials said.
The winning ticket for the $1 billion Powerball jackpot was sold in California.
In Arizona, there were eight $50,000 tickets sold, two included Power Play, boosting winnings to $100,000.

Powerball players who purchased tickets in several Valley cities for Wednesday night’s drawing failed to hit the big jackpot, but ended the day with nice consolation prizes, Arizona Lottery officials said.
The winning ticket for the $1 billion Powerball jackpot was sold in California.
In Arizona, there were eight $50,000 tickets sold, two included Power Play, boosting winnings to $100,000.
Local winners purchased their tickets at QuikTrips in Buckeye at 2345 E. Irvington Road and 1850 S. Miller Road (Power Play winner), Fry’s at 7628 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, the Fast Market, 1636 S. Higley Road, Gilbert and Jacksons, 21001 N. Tatum Blvd., Phoenix.
The next big drawing is Friday night with the Mega Millions jackpot at $720 million and a cash value approaching $371 million, according to the Arizona Lottery.
