For about a decade it has become increasingly clear what the Prasada area of Surprise would not feature — the original large indoor mall planned as a centerpiece of the project during the city’s initial population boom in the mid-2000s.
In August, part of what will go on this block just west of Loop 303 between Waddell and Cactus roads instead came into focus. Illinois-based Baker Development Corp. bought 82 acres south of Sweetwater Avenue with frontage along Cactus Road for $20 million.
BDC has dubbed the estimated $150 million industrial park project Cactus 303 and plans to build about 1 million square feet, leading with seven Class A industrial buildings and including a retail component along Cactus.
