Powell: Sun City intersection not as bad as painted

We went down to the intersection that is in question (“Looking for ‘cat tracks,’” Sun City Independent, Nov. 23, 2022) and wonder what happened.

Your story does not give any particulars as to what direction anyone was traveling so it was hard to make any clear decision as to what should be done.

From what we saw the power transformers are not the problem, the drivers are the problem. Were the individuals involved over the age of 70? Do they live in Sun City all year round? Those are important questions.

All you have to do is watch the traffic on Del Webb Boulevard from Grand to 99th avenues and you can see how people drive. Traffic signs to the majority of individuals are only suggestions as to what they should do — 45 or 50 in a 30 mph zone, using turn signals, making turns from the correct lane, stopping at stop and red lights and the biggest thing is the cell phone. The list goes on and on.

So what we saw at the intersection are lanes clearly marked with white lines and white arrows. No need for additional signs or markings, just people need to watch the road and the traffic.
