The downtown Mesa pizza spot has teamed up with French fry provider Frites Street to serve a classic rendition of the popular Canadian dish 7-10 p.m. July 1, according to a release.
When chef and owner Myke Olsen lived in Canada, he fell in love with the dish that layers French fries, cheese curds and gravy. And while poutine has found a place in the U.S., he hasn’t found anything quite like the Ontario version he enjoyed. So he’s made his own, the release states.
Olsen explains Frites Street fries, which use Kennebec-style potatoes, are perfect for a classic poutine. The fries have a high starch-to-sugar content that gives them a great crunch on the outside while retaining a soft, almost mashed potato like center.
Cider Corps will be serving craft ciders and cocktails. Myke’s Pizza offers a variety of non-alcoholic sodas, the release states.
