The voluntary contributions from residents to the Sun City West Sheriff’s Posse were down a bit during the 2018 drive compared to the previous year.
During the monthly Posse meeting June 19, treasurer Dennis Dionne said in 2018 about 26 percent of the residents responded to the annual mail solicitation for donations. In 2017 the response was 30 percent.
The 2018 contributions equaled about $268,000, compared to $330,000 the previous year. However, in 2017, Mr. Dionne said, there was a special bequeath of $55,000, so the 2018 receipts were actually only about $6,400 less than the previous year.
Mr. Dionne advised Posse members he learned that if they use Amazon Smile for their purchases they would get .5 percent of the purchase price donated to the Posse. He also said he would soon be receiving the third quarter rewards payment from Fry’s Grocery Stores.
The posse will send out a second solicitation to those who didn’t contribute in the fall.
