Portion of Laveen property long planned for a park will become a school — and kind of a park

City of Phoenix still plans to build larger park in the future

A 40-acre property in Laveen has long been planned for a park. The area is now getting a school that will somewhat act as a park while the city still plans to build out a larger park later.

Phoenix City Council voted 8-0 on April 23 to enter into an agreement with the Laveen Elementary School District to use half of that 40 acres of city-owned land at the northeast corner of 59th and Olney avenues to build a new K-8 school.
