PORA pivots, keeps focus on community

Organizations were forced to shift during the pandemic as events and activities were canceled and some had to shift their approach.

For the Property Owners and Residents Association, 13815 W. Camino del Sol, advocating for a strong, supportive community and to be an effective voice for Sun City West remained the focus of staff. Tracy McGuire, PORA general manager; Cynthia Young, PORA director of communications; and Ralph Johnson, PORA board president, said PORA staff continued to follow important issues to Sun City West.

“The work that PORA does is act as an intervenor with the Arizona Corporation Commission, including Bob Miller, Government Relations Committee chairman, and Mr. Johnson,” Ms. Young said. “PORA works independently in rate cases and has daily involvement in the intervention process. Currently, PORA officials are working to prevent forced consolidation of water districts that would cost residents a 23% increase in water bills.”
