Residents looking for something cool to do this summer have an indoor option with a summer learning series at the Property Owners and Residents Association in Sun City West.

Dawn Exarhopoulos, PORA education program, said the series has something to offer people looking for something to do. She said with approximately 45% of the Sun City West community gone for the summer, this series is a way for people to get together.

This series is available to PORA members at no cost. Videos last about 30 minutes followed by discussions. The series is offered 10-11:15 a.m. and 12:30-1:45 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Monday covers national parks. Wednesdays covers the history of the American west, and Tai chi is offered 12:30-1:45 p.m. Fridays.

“Tai chi has been received really well and people come and enjoy it,” Exarhopoulos said.

The classes run through August.

A PORA membership gives members access to a list of various vendors vetted by the organization. Members also receive complimentary notary services. A one-year membership to PORA is $15 for an individual and $25 per household. Non-residents living outside of Sun City West, Corte Bella and Sun City Grand may join PORA, for the same fees, as an associate member. Associate members receive the same benefits as full members, but are not allowed to vote in any governing board elections or decisions.
