ROADWORK

‘Poor’ stretch of 67th Avenue in Glendale up for reconstruction

Project part of streets identified for rehab through 2025

Two-and-a-half years ago the city of Glendale identified eight miles of major streets to entirely reconstruct over five years. One of those projects may begin later this summer.

In 2020 the city moved money around to secure funding for every mile of roadway in the city to be properly maintained for the next 17 years. Among the targeted roadways was 67th Avenue between Bell and Greenway roads.

The city reports that the average Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of that stretch is 35 (out of 100), which is considered to be “poor.” PCI uses a scale to rate the severity and extent of distresses observed on a pavement surface.
