Poor planning allowed Iran to hold the U.S., world economy hostage

Surprise resident: Department of Defense should have secured sea lanes before starting a war

OPINION — When planning the attacks on Iran, Mr. Trump has stated there are two goals ... eliminate Iran’s capability to possess or manufacture nuclear weapons and to ensure they could not build long-range ballistic missiles.

Either he, the Department of Defense or both were totally incompetent in not securing the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman as part of the overall war strategy. Making these sea lanes secure would have ensured the safe passage of oil, liquified natural gas, helium and agricultural fertilizer to countries around the world including the U.S.

This lack of planning and implementation from the onset of the war has financially hurt not only families, farms and businesses here at home but also throughout the world to include our allies in the Middle East.
