Election Day is here with seats such as U.S. Senate and Maricopa County Sheriff up for grabs in the primary contests.

A lot goes into hosting an election for voters of the nation’s fourth-most populous county.

As of July 15, about 175,000 Maricopa County residents had returned their ballots by mail for the primary, Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer said.
