State's top doc calls for caution as COVID-19 pandemic surges

Despite the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel appearing Monday with the initial deployment of COVID-19 vaccinations for front line health care workers across the nation, the Christmas holiday looms as the public health crisis hits a new peak in Arizona and elsewhere.

While some weary social distancers may have thrown caution to the wind last month, health experts and concerned citizens say the need for caution remains, despite the desire to return to normal.

Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services, signaled her concerns following the Thanksgiving holiday.
