Political temperature: Reader has questions for Everett, GOP

I agree with Lisa Everett’s comment, “We are all Americans. It’s time we start acting like it.” in her letter to the editor, Time to lower the temperature in politics. We are a country divided by politics. I think we need to look at how it happened to this degree.

I would like to ask Lisa and her fellow Republicans to consider:

1. I was shocked and dismayed when I started seeing “F Biden” flags and shirts. Did they address this in meetings, say it is bad for our country and try to stop it?

2. When they began to see people with “Let’s Go Brandon” shirts and hats, did they say it is bad for our country and try to stop it?

3. When they heard Trump say, “Democrats are bad at governing and always cheat” did they say it is bad for our country and try to stop it? Not fake news; I just heard it. 

4. When they heard, “Lock her Up,” did they say it is wrong and it is bad for our country?

5. When they heard, “The election was stolen,” did they ever question why the election of 2016 was legitimate, but 2020 wasn’t? Did they and their boards vote on how to stop this insanity because it was not good for our country?

I ponder the fate of our nation, and wonder if our democracy will survive, but think it will if we collectively band together.

 Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air. Disney took a financial hit and he was reinstated. Power to the people for voting with their pocketbooks and walking away from Disney.

 Sometimes rot starts at the top. Influential persons should be the first to bring up bad behavior in meetings and vote on how, and to whom, they need to talk to about it. 

Last, on the tragic loss of Charlie Kirk. I am sorry he was shot and killed, along with the two Colorado school children shot the same day.
