A grassroots organization aimed at blocking the construction of 1,895 apartments as part of security technology company Axon’s planned world headquarters campus in north Scottsdale filed a lawsuit Sept. 25 challenging the constitutionality of state legislation allowing the dwelling units to go up.
Taxpayers Against Awful Apartment Zoning Exemptions filed the suit against the state, which passed Senate Bill 1543, known as the Axon Bill, in Maricopa County Superior Court.
The City of Scottsdale is also named in the lawsuit because “absent relief from the court, it will be required to implement the Axon Bill,” said Mike Scerbo, a spokesman for TAAAZE.
