Peoria Police take new e-bike ordinance to the streets

Officers focus on enforcement and education efforts

The Peoria Police Department has been bringing the city’s updated e-bike ordinance to the public on a “balanced approach of education, enforcement, and community engagement,” said spokesperson William Kennedy.

“Our goal is to improve safety for riders, pedestrians, and motorists while helping the community better understand the rules and expectations surrounding e-bike use,” he said.

Peoria updated its city code regarding electric bikes, electric stand-up scooters and motor-driven cycles in April.
