Police: Probable cause found to charge Paradise Valley councilman with theft

Scottsdale detectives have found probable cause to file charges against Paradise Valley Town Councilman Paul Dembow for theft, a police report shows.

A July 1 Scottsdale Police Department investigation report obtained by Independent Newsmedia details Detective Christopher Hontz’s findings regarding Dembow allegedly removing a memorial cross from a Paradise Valley right of way.

Camera footage on social media shows a man removing a cross put up in memory of Paradise Valley resident Howard Brown, who died after a vehicle-pedestrian collision in November 2015. Dembow’s daughter was driving the vehicle that fatally hit Howard Brown.
