Four people were stabbed just before midnight Dec. 31 during a fight at an apartment complex near Gilbert and Broadway roads, Mesa police said.
Officers were called to the scene about 11:40 p.m. after receiving reports of a large disturbance. They found four adults with cuts and stab wounds, three of whom sustained deep lacerations and the other suffered a puncture wound to the chest.
All four received treatment, and their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
An investigation found the incident involved people from several apartments and that alcohol was involved. After the fight began, other apartment residents became involved, police said.
“Due to the number of people involved and language barriers at the scene, officers detained more than 10 individuals while attempting to gather statements. Multiple interviews were conducted with victims, witnesses and involved parties,” police stated in a release.
Accounts of the incident were conflicting, and detectives were unable to establish a clear primary aggressor, police said. No arrests have been made and all of those detained were released.
