Authorities have identified the teen involved in the stabbing that resulted in the death of 15-year-old Jaylen Reeves, Phoenix police said.

The teenage suspect provided a statement to investigators, according to a release from the Phoenix Police Department.

“Detectives are actively working this investigation and to this point have interviewed multiple witnesses, served search warrants and impounded many items of evidence. No arrest has been made at this time,” the release stated.

Officers responded to an emergency call just after 3 a.m. Nov. 16 near 3800 East Lakewood Parkway, according to an earlier release.

Reeves was found suffering from a stab wound “that developed from a verbal altercation between two groups of juveniles,” the release stated.

The boy was taken to a hospital where he was treated for life-threatening injuries, but he died from the stabbing, police said.

Detectives investigated and learned that Reeves was with a group of friends when a fight started between Reeves and the unidentified “suspect(s) which resulted in the stabbing,” police said.

If anyone has information or surveillance video showing suspicious activity, police ask that they call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO.
