The Phoenix Police Reserve Foundation last week donated four new police vehicles to the city’s reserve division.
The donation was made as part of an annual award ceremony on Friday at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix.
The vehicles — three new Chevrolet Tahoes and a specially wrapped Chevrolet Camaro were donated in partnership with the foundation and Courtesy Chevrolet.
“The Phoenix Police Reserve officers are an integral component of the city’s policing plan and work alongside the Phoenix Police Department to ensure the safety of the Phoenix residents,” said Derrick Hall, president and CEO of the Arizona Diamondback and president of the PPRF board of directors.
The foundation is an independent nonprofit with a board of community business and civic leaders that works to raise money for the police department’s reserve division.
The reserve division is comprised of 120 sworn officers that perform the same duties as full-time officers in the department. Last year the reserve officers donated more than 39,000 hours with a value of $3.14 million.
“Reserve police officers are vital to the protection of our community and Courtesy Chevrolet is honored to help provide these vital crime-fighting tools to the Police Reserve Foundation,” said Dealer Principal Scott Gruwell in a press releas. He added, “Since 1955, Courtesy has been a part of the fabric of our community. These officers and their families are near and dear to our hearts at Courtesy Chevrolet.”
