A 77-year-old woman is suspected in the Jan. 26 death of a 78-year-old man in Phoenix, police said.
The victim has been identified as Vernon Gaskill, and police have identified Patricia Gaskill as the suspect. She was recently released from medical care and booked into jail on a murder charge, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
At about 10 a.m. Jan. 26, officers responded to the area of 13th Street and Bethany Home Road and found the woman inside an apartment and the man “with obvious signs of trauma,” according to an earlier release. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives determined the woman was involved in the man’s death, police said, but she was not booked until being released from a hospital.
