Police detonate suspected explosive in Phoenix neighborhood

Phoenix police used a controlled detonation Tuesday night in a neighborhood near 39th Avenue and Cactus Road where a resident found what was believed to be an explosive.

Officers evacuated the area to allow the department’s bomb squad to handle the matter, police said.

The area was deemed safe late Tuesday, according to authorities.
