A woman is dead and a man has been arrested as the suspect in her killing, police said.

Officers were called just after 1:30 a.m. May 30 to 14th Street and Wier Avenue and found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound outside a mobile home, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

Genoveva Antillon, 38, was rushed to a hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Homicide detectives took over the case and conducted interviews. They spoke to 35-year-old Maury Williamson “who provided statements that were inconsistent with the crime scene,” the release stated.

“He was questioned on those inconsistencies and later admitted to shooting Antillon accidentally when he shot at a dog on the property that he thought was attacking him.”

A firearm was found hidden inside the mobile home and recovered by detectives after a search warrant was obtained, police said.

Williamson was booked on multiple felonies, including manslaughter, weapons violations and tampering with evidence.
