A Buckeye man is in jail following an investigation into dozens of thefts from cell tower sites across Arizona, police said.
Jeremiah Ramage, 38, is suspected of stealing communications equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and selling it online, police said.
Buckeye police responded on June 10 to a report of a break-in at a cell phone tower in Tartesso off Sun Valley Parkway “where high-dollar equipment was stolen including an industrial router,” according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
Detectives began working with cell phone carrier T-Mobile and learned there had been more than 35 similar break-ins at cell towers in the Valley. Some of the stolen equipment had been sold on eBay, police said.
Detectives developed information pointing to Ramage, a former contractor, according to authorities.
Detectives found Ramage driving a pickup truck on July 17 near Sun Valley Parkway and Thomas Road and conducted a traffic stop. Ramage was arrested without incident, police said.
Investigators found cell tower equipment inside the truck linked to burglaries at sites in southern Arizona and a stolen handgun, the release stated.
“Detectives later served a search warrant at Ramage’s Buckeye home and recovered hundreds of items belonging to multiple cell service providers,” the release stated.
Ramage was booked into jail on charges including burglary, theft and trafficking stolen property, police said.
