The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. is planning semiconductor factory on more than 1,100 acres in north Phoenix, planned to open next year.
However, early recruiting of the company by Phoenix officials did not go to plan, and it was the city’s pitch for a surrounding mixed-use development – now called Halo Vista – that won the company over.
TSMC came to scout several potential U.S. sites in 2016 but left not liking any, according to Phoenix Community and Economic Development Director Christine Mackay.
