Plan to keep energy affordable heads to Phoenix City Council

Phoenix residents providing feedback for the city’s Energy Access Plan wanted to see more incentives for energy-efficiency programs, better education efforts about existing programs and government policy to help lower energy costs.

The city of Phoenix is crafting its Energy Access Plan with a goal to ensure all residents have access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy. Council will vote Dec. 9 on a draft plan, which will accompany the city’s Climate Action Plan passed in 2021.

The Phoenix Environmental Quality and Sustainability Commission heard a presentation during its Thursday, Nov. 13 meeting of public feedback that staff has received about the plan. Staff did not have a draft ready to present to the commission last week for a vote to recommend approval but said it would in a few days and requested the commission sign a letter of support to submit to council.
