Plan for long waits at Phoenix Sky Harbor due to TSA staffing shortages

Two Terminal 4 security checkpoints are closed Friday

Travelers should expect longer wait times to get through security at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Friday and potentially longer.

The airport has closed two checkpoints in Terminal 4 “due to Transportation Security Administration staffing,” airport spokesperson Eric Everts stated in an email to Independent Newsmedia on Friday.

The Associated Press and others report TSA staff across the country are quitting instead of working without pay during the partial federal government shutdown. Last fall, TSA employees also worked without pay during the longest federal government shutdown in history of 43 days.
