The Pinebrook Fire south of Florence is now 35% contained at 8 acres, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management is reporting.
The fire started Wednesday afternoon in the area of Pinebrook and Dogwood roads in the Cactus Forest area located approximately six miles south of Florence and west of State Route 79 in Pinal County.
“Engines and a hand crew are making good progress and working to suppress lingering hotspots. One primary residence was destroyed in the fire along with one outbuilding. Crews were able to stop the fire's forward progress around 3 p.m., about an hour and a half after the fire started,” according to a post Thursday on the department’s Facebook page.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office evacuated an area including Dogwood Road, Pinebrook Road and Flint Lane while the fire blazed. PCSO has since lifted the “Go” notification for impacted residents.
The Florence Fire & Medical Department also joined in fighting the fire.
