After interviewing 13 applicants on Monday, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors will be naming seven of them on Wednesday to make up the inaugural San Tan Valley Town Council.

On Friday, the board announced the names of 14 finalists selected for interviews, but one applicant withdrew from the process.

The supervisors will vote on their seven appointments at their regular meeting starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Pinal County Administrative Complex Board of Supervisors hearing room, 135 N. Pinal St. in Florence.

Pinal County reported it received 86 applications, with 10 of the applicants not meeting the statutory requirements for a position and one who missed the filing deadline.

On Aug. 5, residents of a portion of unincorporated San Tan Valley in Pinal County went to the polls to vote on creating the town of San Tan Valley. The “yes” vote won by an about two-to-one margin.

The successful incorporation drive started in 2023 and was spearheaded by San Tan Valley Inc.

The new town of San Tan Valley government will get up and running using $51 million in state-shared revenue, with the county passing all responsibility for the area to the new town leaders on July 1, 2026.

Past efforts to incorporate San Tan Valley failed in 2004, 2010 and 2017.

The town of San Tan Valley council will be selected from the following pool:

  • Andrew Pioske
  • Brian Tyler
  • Bryan Hunt
  • Calvin Cameron
  • Christopher Maddux
  • Daniel Oakes
  • Daren Schnepf
  • Diane Combes
  • Gia Jenkins
  • James Garrison
  • Lisa Boyer
  • Rupert Wolfer
  • Tyler Hudgins

Larry Harmer, a semi-retired  municipal urban and regional planner and consultant, withdrew his name from consideration before the interviews on Monday.

Full applications and resumes for all the finalists are available at http://bit.ly/4n34WCE.
