Election 2022

Pinal supervisors appoint new county recorder

The move comes after the primary election debacle

The Pinal County Board of Supervisors on Friday, Aug. 5, unanimously voted to appoint Dana Lewis as the new Pinal County recorder through Dec. 31, 2024.

The move comes after Pinal County Elections Director David Frisk was let go Thursday, Aug. 4, following two major errors in the primary election cycle. Virginia Ross resigned from her elected office as Pinal County recorder and was appointed Pinal elections director effective immediately on the same day Frisk was dismissed.

The trouble in the Pinal County primary started when mail-in ballots were sent out that did not contain some municipal elections. Then on election night, the county reported that it had underestimated how many ballots were needed and ended up having to print more.
