A 32-year-old Casa Grande man has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison for enticement of a minor, authorities announced this week.
Adam Tovar was sentenced on Oct. 22 by U.S. District Judge Raner C. Collins, who also ordered him to spend a lifetime of supervised release once he gets out of prison, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Tovar, who pleaded guilty on June 17, also will be required to register as a sex offender.
In December 2022, Tovar communicated via Snapchat with a person who he knew was a minor, the release stated. “During that time, he persuaded, induced, enticed and coerced the victim to engage in sexual activities with him,” it continued.
On Dec. 29, 2022, during a traffic stop by the Marana Police Department, Tovar was found traveling with the victim in the front passenger seat of his vehicle.
In entering his plea of guilty, Tovar admitted that he had intended “to take the victim from the victim’s home to a hotel, where he intended to engage in sexual acts with the victim,” the release stated.
