Pinal County: Damaged fire gates to be removed at Peralta Canyon Way

Posted

Pinal County Public Works will be removing the gates on Peralta Canyon Way after they were found to be inoperable in a recent site visit by Superstition Fire and Medical District and had to be manually opened by the crew.

Such an incident during an emergency could present liability issues for the county, so the gates will be removed while a decision is made on the long-term access relating to Peralta Canyon Way, according to a release.

Traffic analysis will be conducted on the road while it is open to gather relevant data and Pinal County staff will be reviewing legal and policy issues related to the closure of what is a public road. Once information is collected, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors will hold a public meeting to discuss the future access of Peralta Canyon Way.
