A 68-year-old man is dead after his plane crashed near the top of Picacho Peak, authorities said.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a hiker who saw the single-engine plane crash at about 7:25 a.m. Saturday, according to the PCSO.
The pilot has been identified as James Galvin, 68, of Oro Valley, PCSO officials said.

A 68-year-old man is dead after his plane crashed near the top of Picacho Peak, authorities said.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a hiker who saw the single-engine plane crash at about 7:25 a.m. Saturday, according to the PCSO.
The pilot has been identified as James Galvin, 68, of Oro Valley, PCSO officials said.
Recovery efforts are underway, and the scene will be turned over to the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration.
