Pickup truck driver dies in wrong-way collision with bus on Loop 101

A driver headed the wrong way on northbound Loop 101 Sunday morning is dead after his pickup truck slammed into a bus between Thunderbird and Bell roads, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The collision occurred about 3:45 a.m. Oct. 29 after DPS received calls of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Loop 101.
Authorities said the truck collided with “a large, band tour bus-style recreational vehicle pulling a trailer.”

A driver headed the wrong way on northbound Loop 101 Sunday morning is dead after his pickup truck slammed into a bus between Thunderbird and Bell roads, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The collision occurred about 3:45 a.m. Oct. 29 after DPS received calls of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Loop 101.
Authorities said the truck collided with “a large, band tour bus-style recreational vehicle pulling a trailer.”
The pickup driver was the only person in the truck and died at a hospital, according to DPS.
The tour bus had seven people on board during the collision. One passenger was ejected during the crash and taken to a hospital with “moderate injuries,” officials said, adding another passenger went for treatment of minor injuries.
All others on the bus were treated at the scene.
DPS officials said the investigation in continuing, but early information is that impairment was a factor.
