SUNC CITY WEST - Phyllis J. (Frame) Shadday, 87, died on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, in Sun City West. She was born on Sept. 6, 1924, in Norton, Kan., to the late Helen (Reever) Frame and (Jesse) Neal Frame. She is survived by her husband, Earl Shadday of Sun City West; her children, Janice Shadday-Saunders of La Plata, Md., and Craig Shadday of Bristol, R.I.; her newly adopted granddaughter, Natasha Shadday of Bristol, R.I.; her son-in-law, Mark Saunders of La Plata, Md.; and her daughter-in-law, Susan Winterbottom-Shadday of Bristol, R.I. She was the sister of the late Carol (Frame) Wilcoxson of Arvada, Colo. Phyllis moved to Arizona in 1994 from Colorado Springs, Colo., and had formerly resided in Arvada, Colo., and Manhattan, Kan., as well as a number of other locations, including Japan, while her husband served in the U.S. Air Force. Phyllis and Earl were married on May 7, 1955, and celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary in 2005 with family and friends. They enjoyed traveling with trips to Europe and throughout the United States and many visits with their children. Phyllis was a wonderful homemaker and devoted mother with a quick wit, who enthusiastically attended all of her children's concerts and military ceremonies. She was a secretary at Lee Elementary School in Manhattan, Kan., for 18 years, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, she worked as a postal clerk at Lowry Air Force Base and in a munitions factory in Colorado. She was a graduate of Norton (KS) High School, where she played flute in the high school band. Phyllis enjoyed volunteering at her church, was active in her aquasize group, and was a great animal-lover and an avid sports fan, with a special fondness for Derek Jeter, the New York Yankees, and Michael Jordan. Phyllis was a parishioner and active volunteer at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West, where she had served on the Family Life, Performing Arts, and Worship committees. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church Chapel, 13658 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at 3 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to ASPCA and mailed to ASPCA Tributes, 520 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10018.
