The restrictions are in alignment with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Management’s Stage 1 restrictions currently in place and are aimed at reducing the risk of fires sparked by permissible consumer fireworks, which pose heightened danger during hot, dry conditions. According to Phoenix City Code § 23-44.2(C), Stage 1 Fire Restrictions prohibit the use of permissible consumer fireworks within a one-mile radius of any municipal or county mountain preserve, desert park, regional park, conservation area, national forest or wilderness area.

The temporary measures are intended to protect residents, property and natural open spaces during a period of elevated fire risk.

Community members can find updates, the current status of fire restrictions and whether their address is impacted at Phoenix.gov/CelebrateSafely.
