Phoenix’s Creighton U offers elementary students ‘Mini Medical School’

Three years ago, Creighton University’s School of Medicine in Phoenix introduced a program to get students from fourth through 12th grade to consider the medical profession by offering a one day mini medical school.

Dr. Ronn Johnson, currently the senior associated dean and professor of family and community medicine, got the ball rolling on this program which has grown exponentially over the years.

“Beginning in elementary school and continuing even through the college years, Mini Medical School uses day long seminars to familiarize participants with the language, the equipment and the practices of the medical world,” Johnson said.
