For more than four consecutive years the Phoenix Zoo has held the ceremonial pick of the loser on the eve of the Fiesta Bowl with Chutti the one-horned Indian Rhinoceros.
Chutti, (pronounced chew-tee) comes from the Hindi word for “holiday.” The gentle giant weighing over 5,200 pounds basked in the attention from press and staff Jan. 7 and enjoyed bits of fruit and vegetables in between sprints across his enclosure.
Chutti’s zookeeper Heather Wright said that Chutti is perfect to be in the spotlight and has a playful personality.
