Phoenix Zoo to hold public voting on baby giraffe

Posted

Hello, help us name the newborn female Masai giraffe!

Choose your favorite:

Cyra: means "sun" in Persian/Greek

Tesni: means "warmth from the sun" in Welsh

Binti: means "daughter" in Swahili

Kasi: means "speed" in Swahili (because of her zoomies)

Ray: like a ray of Sunshine (the name of her mother)

Cast your vote here: https://www.phoenixzoo.org/blog/voting/help-us-name-sunshines-calf/

Voting is now open through midnight on December 22! One vote per day. The winning name will be announced on December 23!

Sunshine and her baby are still enjoying time bonding in the barn. We hope they will be ready to make their way out onto the Savanna sometime in January. Stay tuned to the Zoo's social media channels for updates!
