Phoenix Zoo reports over $300K of damage from storm

The Phoenix Zoo is looking for ways to repair about $300,000 in damage caused by Monday's storm that struck parts of the Valley.

Zoo officials said they will remain closed through at least Oct. 17 and are calling on donations for a recovery fund to help finance the repairs.

No people or animals were harmed during the storm; however, there was significant damage, zoo officials said.

The Phoenix Zoo is looking for ways to repair about $300,000 in damage caused by Monday's storm that struck parts of the Valley.

Zoo officials said they will remain closed through at least Oct. 17 and are calling on donations for a recovery fund to help finance the repairs.

No people or animals were harmed during the storm; however, there was significant damage, zoo officials said.

Nearly two dozen trees were uprooted and had to be removed from the property and the ZooLights tunnel and Lake Tree fell and broke during the nearly 80-mile-per-hour winds.
